Control & Restaint

Security organisations and agencies are now taking on a greater responsibility for safety and security than ever before. It is recognized that staff are at less risk if they are well prepared for critical incidents and understand the principles of control and restraint.

C4 has an extensive history of providing leading New Zealand organisations with well researched and appropriate control and restraint training.

C4 took a leading roll in the development of international airline cabin crew control and restraint training after 9/11 and has trained over a thousand airline flight attendants in physical control and restraint as well as in counter terrorist response techniques.

C4 has developed and delivered unique personnel safety programmes to Super yacht crews in Germany, Close protection staff operating in numerous countries around the world, Hotel staff in Asia.

C4 is NZ’s leading training company for venue and site security teams, door managers, Close Protection, and international security operators.

Best Practise

Our individualized training programmes are developed to suit the needs of the agency or organisation making the request. The training principles are based on the ‘best practise’ available in New Zealand…the NZ Police.

Over the years the NZ Police have researched many methods of control and restraint to cope with the varying aspects of security work including custodial, managing violent offenders, mentally disturbed patients, suicidal persons as well as high risk security requirements in situations such as terrorist events.

C4 training is not martial arts training….it is based on the ‘best practise’ available and therefore provides the most appropriate training for security officers, government enforcement agencies and other operators in need of these skills. It also affords the greatest protection when ‘liability’ issues arise when staff are forced to utilise force to protect themselves and others.

Programmes also provide information on legislative requirements as well as reinforcing the organisations policies and procedures on the use of force.

C4 advisors include current members of the NZ Police Staff Safety and Tactics training group, Corrections Department officials, Health industry, Children and Family, NZ Defence and international protection operators…..this ensures that all C4 training programmes are appropriate to the client’s needs and provides up the minute ‘best practise’

C4 makes no issues about the fact that techniques and procedures are based on NZ Police training, they are tried and true, tested in New Zealand courts and under scrutiny from official police complaints investigations.

To train staff in any other, sometimes questionable techniques is likely to invite problems that may include criminal liability for using excessive force.
